Chaukhamba Junior High School, a semi-government school in the village of Ukhimath, has been a beacon of hope for children’s education in the region. Managed largely by the villagers with support from the government, the school provides education from nursery to 8th standard, helping children build a stronger future through learning.

When Roots Foundation learned about the school’s poor infrastructure and the struggles faced by students, especially during cold weather, we decided to step in and support the community. The classrooms lacked proper flooring, windows, paint, benches, and basic facilities, making it difficult for students to study in a comfortable environment.

With the support of the principal, teachers, and local villagers, we worked towards transforming the school into a safer and more inspiring learning space. From improving classrooms to creating better seating arrangements, our goal was to provide children with an environment where they could learn with dignity and confidence.

This project was not just about rebuilding classrooms; it was about supporting dreams, strengthening education, and empowering an entire community. Today, the school stands as a symbol of hope and collective effort, helping students move toward a brighter future.

Classroom Renovation: We merged two classrooms into one, creating a bright and airy learning space that promotes collaboration and creativity.

Infrastructure Upgrades: We fixed the walls, added new sturdy walls, reinforced the ceiling to ensure the safety and security of every student, and installed modern floor tiles for a comfortable and inviting atmosphere.

Seating Arrangements: Provided proper seating arrangements to replace the inadequate benches, ensuring a productive and comfortable learning environment.
