Janta Inter College, Parsundakhal-Phase 1
In 2025, Roots Foundation adopted its second school, Janta Inter College, Parsundakhal, in Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, marking another important milestone in our mission to support girl child education and improve learning environments in rural Uttarakhand.
Our journey began with a visit to the school by Sachin Bajpai, Upasana Bajpai, and our mentor, Shailesh Bajpai. From the moment we arrived, we received a warm and heartfelt welcome from the school management, teachers, and students. Their hospitality, enthusiasm, and openness made us feel like part of their school community.
During our visit, the school staff walked us through the campus, helping us understand the school’s history, the challenges they faced, and the areas where support was most urgently needed. We spent time interacting with the teachers and students, listening to their experiences, aspirations, and ideas for creating a better learning environment.
After carefully assessing the school’s needs, we identified our Phase 1 project—the restoration of the ceilings in the higher secondary classrooms and the administrative block. Years of wear and damage had made these areas unsafe and uncomfortable for both students and staff. Restoring these spaces became our first priority to ensure that learning could take place in a safer, more secure, and welcoming environment.
For us, this project was about much more than repairing a building. It was about creating classrooms where students could focus on learning without worrying about their surroundings, and where teachers could teach with confidence and peace of mind.
As we left the school that day, we carried with us more than just a project plan—we carried a shared commitment. A commitment to stand beside the students, teachers, and community of Janta Inter College and help build a future where every child has access to a safe, inspiring, and supportive place to learn.
The adoption of Janta Inter College marks the beginning of a long-term partnership. Through continued collaboration with the school, local community, and our supporters, Roots Foundation remains dedicated to creating meaningful and lasting change—one project, one school, and one child at a time.
